TOROSAY

3 small heraldic panels above entrance.
"Depicted, left to right as viewed from inside the building, are the coats of arms of the
families James, Guthrie and (presumably) Miller. The stained glass is post war, probably early/mid 1960's."
Chris James (present owner) When I said I thought it looked old-fashioned, he expanded: "I say the 60's because: the styles are the same so I presume that they were all done at the same time; the James crest would not have been put up I think before 1945 when my father inherited the house - and no money would have been spent for the next 15 years as confidence that the family could afford to keep the place returned(!) I'm almost certain that they would have been paid for by my step grandfather, Geoffrey Miller (hence the third crest). Lastly I have childhood memories of hearing adults discussing if they were an appropriate addition - I was born in '57. This may be most unreliable!" This man should be a detective!
While it's not worth a special visit for the stained glass, it's certainly worth it for the gardens! This panorama doesn't do it anything like justice...
