WILSON, W: Resurrection window. Unveiled 18/12/38; review Edinburgh Evening News 19/12/38). Window by "the distinguished Edinburgh stained glass artist", dedicated to the memory of Thomas and Helen Manuel Ritchie. The window symbolises Christ's message of hope to his disciples - "let not your heart be troubled. My peace I give unto you" Figure of Christ, with bird of the Holy Spirit hovering above. Behind and above the figure a cross and the crown of life supported by two angels, one on either side, with two shields depicting the pelican feeding her young (self-sacrifice) and the phoenix rising (renewed life). Colour scheme mainly blue with the figure of Christ emerging from the deeper tone of the aureole. Above, a small panel of the Annunciation. "Majesty of design" shows "artist's understanding and creative skill".

The church has produced an excellent booklet about the entire church, with full descriptions: The Renovation of Kippen Parish Church 1924 - 1991, Begg, R W A. Quotations throughout this entry are lifted from his/her book CLARK, J: 1-l behind the entrance door, commemorating James Lyndsay Orr, a Glasgow lawyer, who lived locally. It shows some of his interests "e.g. viewing from top to bottom, the work for world peace, of the United Nation Organisation, represented by the dove of peace; the hills, including Ben A'an, in which he delighted to climb; his keenness as a gardener, shown by a corner of his garden, with the well and the sundial: the Christian symbol of the fish, recalling his commitment to Christ; a corner of Oakbank, as it was restored following a fire; the Masonic symbol of the dividers, remembering his deep involvement with Freemasonary; finally the scales of justice, together with law books and a quill pen, representing his life's work as a lawyer". Dedicated 31/8/1986. CLARK, J & RODGER, W: 1-l on immediate left as you enter entrance hall, the window commemorates James D. B. Carmichael of Shirgarton House, "a Railway Engineer throughout his working life, who retired to Shirgarton in 1961. For some years thereafter, he served as Church Treasurer. His widow, Blanche, commissioned this window from Willie Rodger, Print Maker, in association with John Clark, Stained Glass Artist. This striking window is the outcome of the co-operation of these two notable artists. Particularly charming features are, representations of Shirgarton House, some of the tools of James Carmichael's calling, two geese, and his dog Meg." Begg. Illustrated HENDRIE, H: 1-l entrance hall the Good Shepherd commemorates Janet Harvie Anderson of Shirgarton.
