3-l West end South wall. The "St Machar" window; tells the traditional story of the founding of the first church in the 6th century and the life of St Machar. Lots of local references. In memory of M Crombie, famous for woollen cloths. C1908.
3-l and tracery War Memorial next to St Machar window. St Michael flanked by the Virtues and military scenes - the triumph of good over evil. Dedicated 1923
3-l Bishops window commemorates three "building bishops", Alexander Kinnimond II (AKA Kininmunde), Henry Lichton (AKA Lichtoun) and William Elphinstone. It shows features of the Cathedral in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, including a cape house in the right hand light. In memory of the Leslies of Powis, 1913

WILSON, W:
Great East window, main theme of which is "the Passion of our Lord", shows the  Nativity, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and Christ in glory surrounded by Scottish saints Machar, Columba, Ninian, Mungo, Cuthbert, Margaret and patron saint Andrew. Dedicated September 1953. Illustrated.
In the Arts Council/ Commonwealth Institute 1964 exhibition of 14 Scottish painters, he listed this as "one of 4 principal commissions so far".)

3-l window  showing Christ reigning in Majesty, flanked by Ss Margaret and John. Fr John Comper, father of Sir Ninian, is shown kneeling in prayer. At the bottom is the Passion - from left, agony in the garden, betrayal by Judas, judgement before Pilate, scourging, crowned with thorns and Christ carrying the cross. Signed with the strawberry, the first so signed; this usage started after his father's death in 1908.
The Post Office used St Margaret on an aerogramme issued in 1993 to mark the 900th anniversary of her death.
